Family Short Story Telling sessions are all about fun and your family just being your beautiful everyday ordinary you. These sessions usually take place either at a special outdoor location, where both the kids and parents can run, swing, splash, tumble, throw, catch, tickle and just play; or we can start at home, hanging out and doing your thing in the place where you are all at. your most comfortable.

These sessions will usually start with the family catching up together, while I start capturing some group shots (you know, those ones that Nanny and Grandma love, where everyone is looking at the camera, and we have maybe 3 mins to get the shot before the kids decide.. .IT… IS… PLAY…. TIME!! And there is nothing wrong with that!!! Bring your favourite activities, or we can explore the beach, the forest, the park, the creek, with the aim of taking some amazing photographs of your family at play, being as crazy and fun as you all like.

Lifestyle Photography involves a little more direction than the family documentary approach, usually because we have less time. But in saying that, we will have a chat before our session to plan and design the kind of images you would like, and how we go about getting them. If you feel your family would work better within a Short Story Telling session (1 to 1.5 hours), then we make a plan for that to be awesome. I won’t pose you, but I may prompt you a little, I will probably run around you looking for light and composition, and maybe encourage a child to give you a gentle lick in the ear. That is when the you start playing and interacting with the kids, and that’s lifestyle photography — with some little prompts from me, so we can capture the story as organically as possible.

When the family is running and playing, without being aware of the camera, and I continue taking pictures during those moments, that’s family documentary photography because I am not directing you in any way. Most of my sessions are a mix of both lifestyle and family documentary photography so that I can create a gallery of images that are both as authentic, beautiful and quirky as your precious little family.

A Family Short Story Telling Session Creative fees start at $250 for a 1 to 2-hour location or home-based photo shoot.

Dads LOVE these sessions, as there is no weird or awkward posing – it’s all about play. Kids LOVE these sessions because it’s all about TIME with their folks to just run and play. And Mums LOVE these session, because everyone else is relaxed and chilled, and she can just lean into it too!!

Beautiful Family Short Story Telling photography creative session fees start at $250 and include;

A pre-session consultation, to discuss and plan your session and the kinds of images you are hoping to produce.

A 60 to 90 minute at home or on location photography session (Maybe making pancakes at home for Sunday brunch, or grabbing an ice cream and taking a walk down Burleigh Beach, maybe gathering the kids and dogs and going for a wee splash at Tallebudgera, or maybe an early morning swim at the Currumbin Rock Pools, or running through some rainforest fields as the sun starts to set, or a sunset picnic at the beach, running and splashing with the kids)… The story is yours to tell.
