Family Story Telling through photography

It’s hard to believe we are already in April of 2017… where has the time gone?  I am lucky that I get to be the resident family photographer for my three nephews and little niece… and in the last 12 months… oh my god have they grown and changed…

We now have, officially, three rowdy boy toddlers (I can no longer call them babies as they are walking, talking, climbing, negotiating, little people)… and, to both my great delight and absolute horror, I noticed this week, when riding their feet propelled 3 wheeler plastic bikes, which they race at break neck speed across the deck, weaving a grand prix route through discarded toys and furniture… and then, just as they are approaching the glass sliding doors… they now kick out the back and ‘skid’ their ‘machines’ into place…

The weird thing is I don’t even think anyone has particularly shown them this kick out skid… I will therefore have to conclude that skidding plastic tricycles is innate… they are born to do it…  Did I mention these little skid weaving rascals are three and two years old… What??!?!?!?!

I so have to get down on the ground with them this week so I can capture some of these amazing skids – and huge belly laughs they enjoy when coming side ways in…

My 2 year old god son/ nephew has definitely moved from baby to little boy… he loves to scrunch his face, and say no, and work out how to do EVERYTHING himself!!!  Including holding his own with his 3 year old brother and cousin… He, along with his brother and cousin, have the cutest little tic tac teeth you have ever seen… but they still believe in the power of cuddles and kisses goodbye and good night… man I love that!!

And then there is our ten month old little girl… she is the apple of all these little boys eyes (bless her in 15 years time)… and it just blows my mind how much she has grown and changed in this short little time…Her big browns love watching the boys and food… and she is now on the crawl move (poor mummy and daddy), and reckon will be walking by the time she is one… She saves her giggles for her brother and cousins when they play ‘peak a boo’ with her… and melt their hearts a little more…

Family Photography Packages – Why it is Important

My family are lucky, and they know it!!! I get to take loads and loads of photographs of these beautiful kids as they grow and learn and change… I have the good gear and know how to work it… and I try to make sure I get plenty of photos of the kids with both their mums and dads (and grandparents)… These were the images that I used to love to look back on when I was a kid (and an adult until we lost them all {that’s another blog altogether – heartbreaking}).   Images of us as children, being held, cuddled, tickled, comforted, rocked to sleep, by our parents equates to liquid gold.   In this digital age, we should have a load of images of our kids, but lets be honest, we have to go through our devices, and edit out the best ones, make sure we save them on a robust backup system, and then ensure we get them printed, or have something done so we can keep them on file… Many of my friends admit this is challenging when you have a busy family.. and many photos these days are simply lost…

Remember the old boxes of photos and albums that our parents and grandparents used to bring out for us to look through… Those are the photos that become heirlooms, and I worry that we just don’t do it anymore…

My Family Photography Approach…

My Family Photography approach includes a mix of lifestyle and family photo-journalistic approach, meaning in some instances I may pose you (to get things started), but then I want to hear from the family about the things you like to do together, and get busy doing and capturing those things… whether it’s exploring the beach, tickling, chasing, giggling… I want to capture the intimacies and fun that you experience on a daily basis… I want the images to remind you of the time your hair was short short, or when the kids had new ‘big’ teeth coming through at all wild and wacky ways, I want to remember the grace of braces or those tiny tiny tic tac teeth… I want to capture pure joy of your kids running and being thrown in the air… I want to capture those everyday moments, that so often we see with our eyes, and wish we could have in a caught moment in time…

My packages offer loads of photographs – because that is how they should be enjoyed!!!  Please email me for more information or have a look on the website for an overview of packages and prices – press here
